We got 5 orders of the #2 beef noodle soup and were very happy with the meal. They did not skimp on the portions of meat/tendons/tripe/meatballs and the soup was rich and hearty for a cold winter day. The only reason why there's no 5th star is because the bean sprouts bag didn't come with the usual green leafy herbs I'm used to. The orders were done quickly for pickup however we took slightly longer to go get it. When we got there the owner let me know that I can request the noodles raw to be cooked at home so they wouldn't stick/clump together. This is def a tip I'll take for next time.
Far from the thick hot humid air blowing in the South China Sea, New Thanh Hoai in Jersey City promises to offer the authentic flavor of Vietnam without the cost of a twenty hour flight. Service was friendly and our order of summer rolls arrived soon after. Dipped in peanut sauce, the shrimp and crunchy lettuce wrapped in rice paper tasted fresh and springy. While the quality of the meat and the flavor of the broth for the round eye and brisket beef noodle soup was fine, I would prefer for the soup to be hotter. Missing were basil leaves along with the usual bean sprouts. Lastly, the pickled and fresh vegetables nicely balanced the grilled pork chop on white rice. High ceilings in the dining room made for a pleasant experience. Perhaps taken advantage of previous patrons, as stays are limited to 90 minutes(and maybe a blessing if your date is not going well.) Although this establishment did not offer particularly high value based on the food items, the cleanliness and comfort of help make the proposition acceptable. All in all, if you're craving Vietnamese, this place can hit the spot, pho sure.
We were really craving some banh mi and New Thanh Hoai is just a few blocks away from our apartment. We placed an order for pick up and it was ready within the quoted time window. The sandwiches were good, if a little pricey - or at least compared to my usual spot in Brooklyn. It satisfied the craving, but I think my OG spot is much better. I also ordered a small Spring Roll and it was pretty good. The greens it came with were fresh and they also give you a good sized container of fish sauce. I'll be back to try out the pho and rice dishes for sure.
Let's start with their food is good and probably the most decent pho around the area. I have to take off a star because their service is bad and somewhat rude. We've been going here for a while and love the food but every time we go it's almost like they don't want to serve us. It doesn't hurt to give a nod or smile once in a while!! Back to food- their classic pho is pretty authentic (#2 or #3). Their shrimp summer rolls come with peanut sauce but their pork summer rolls come with vinaigrette sauce. You can always ask for peanut sauce instead. We def prefer the pork summer rolls. Their delivery is quite fast through grub hub but I'd order something else rather than pho because the noodles seem to always be in clump when they get delivered even if they were in a separate container from the soups. I would still recommend this restaurant if you're craving pho's but just don't expect too much of a service- be prepared and go there for food.
best Vietnamese restaurant I know! food is always consistently good and I've never had a dish I didn't like. Relatively quick service even during the busiest of hours. there's usually street parking in the area when I go, but there are signs for a parking lot.
